For their first issue, SALIMA is exploring the many meanings of EMERGENCE. The theme was inspired by the writings of adrienne maree brown and Octavia Butler.
They talk to Ali Anderson of Feed Black Futures about food sovereignty, share images from the first 7 years of Feminist Centre for Creative Work, discuss club culture with Russell E.L. Butler and Miah Benton, and answer crowdsourced questions.
Plus an essay by Anaïs Duplan, tarot forecast by Danielle Dorsey, winter recipes, youth art, crossword puzzles and more!

SALIMA is a project of the Feminist Center for Creative Work in Los Angeles, California and published twice a year. They're deeply invested in celebrating folks who are routinely dismissed and silenced by our white supremacist, cis-heteronormative, imperialist patriarchy: Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color; queer, trans, and nonbinary folks; people living with disabilities and low-income folks. No matter the topic—whether art, culture, fashion, politics, or wellness—all of their work is grounded in radical thought and the desire to dismantle the status quo.
